Startup Boot Camp May 2015 | Berlin – Adlershof

What is FIWARE?

Startup Boot Camp 3-day event with on-site workshops for early and later stage startups The Berlin Boot Camp will take 3 days and consist of a parallel program for early and later stage startups. The aim for early stage startups is to intensively work on their business model, exchange with other European startups, develop a financing strategy and to learn about team management. The Boot Camp is open for 60 FIWARE startups from the 16 European accelerators. Additional the event will be open for another 20 interested startups and research projects. DAY 1 – Connect & Play Pitch Battles – entrepreneur pitch each others startups – may the best presenter win Team Challenge – Scavenger hunt in mixed teams – win the golden coin DAY 2 – Learn & Develop Seminars & Workshops on specific topics like IPR Management, CRM, Social Media Marketing, Patents, License Management etc. One-on-one sessions with consultants and other startups to work on individual topics and challenges DAY 3 – Pitch & Sell Pitching of later stage companies in front of investors Pitching of early stage companies in front of serial entrepreneurs and market experts

Location Berlin Adlershof – Science & Startups At Work 1,100 square metres of flexible space perfect to rent for conventions, fairs, conferences, and receptions. An extensive program of workshops, seminars and guided tours are available to make our event extraordinary. Conference & Workshop Rooms Startup Atmosphere – HU Spin-Off Zone, HU Campus, DLR etc.

DAY 1 – Connect & Play Networking and community feeling among FIWARE startups At the first day, people will actively get to know each other and learn about the different business idea in the FIWARE community. Personal Guide for each startup Each startup team will get a personal guide to lead through the boot camp Pitch Battle - Pitch each other’s startup battle Two entrepreneurs at a time will pitch the startup idea of the other on stage. The audience decides who was most convincing and the winner moves to the next round. Matchmaking between startups Startups from FIWARE and local startups will be matched to develop synergies in terms of product development, R&D, internationalization, marketing and customer acquisition Team Challenge – Scavenger hunt for the golden coin A scavenger hunt, where each team has to solve questions and puzzles to win the game. Each team requires very different abilities from logical thinking and knowledge to social skills.

DAY 2 – Learn & Develop Refine business plans & revenue models with international experts The aim of the second day is to give each startup intensive input to develop or improve their business plans. The seminars and workshop will be split into parallel lines, one for early stage entrepreneurs and another one for later stage startups. Seminars Seminars will be short presentations on a specific topic followed by 15 minutes Q&A or discussion. Each Seminar will cover a certain aspect of the business plan in greater detail and give inputs to the startups what they can improve. Workshops Intensive sessions with startups on specific topics like intellectual property right, social media marketing and techniques like the business model canvas One-on-One Mentoring & Networking One-on-one meeting areas are inviting the startups to meet with other startups and work intensively on cooperation, synergies and technology exchange

DAY 3 – Pitch & Sell Pitching in front of international investors & training for young entrepreneurs The about 20 later stage companies have the option to pitch in front of international investors. All early stage startups can join the pitching to get experience. Pitching Preparation Workshops on how to pitch in front of investors with experienced investors. The startups will learn how to present their startup and to negotiate investment conditions. Pitching Sessions About 20 investment ready startups will pitch in different sector forums Investor Meeting & Startup Demonstration One-on-one meetings between startups and investors

Matchmaking Connect the FIWARE startups with local startups and science projects Our aim is to bring the FIWARE startups in touch with the Future Internet startup scene in Berlin. This could be beneficial in terms of internationalization and create synergies to e.g. apply for EU project financing. FIWARE Startups meet Local Startups Identify, match and invite local startups to network and exchange for faster development or to attract European startups to move to Berlin FIWARE Startups meet Scientists Present local science projects and technology transfer possibilities Potential Partners:

Event Cooperation Bring FIWARE startups to the Berlin Web Week & cooperate on speakers In order to use the overall budgets as effective as possible, it would be beneficial for all partners to develop synergies in terms of speakers, marketing and access to events. Cooperation on Speaker Acquisition Invite speakers together and share the financing of travel, accommodation and fees Discount for FIWARE startups to access Berlin Web Week events In order to bring as many of the 1000 future internet startups of FIWARE we would like to offer them discounts. In return the FIWARE programme would heavily advertise the Berlin Web Week and its events to a European audience.
