Sherburne County Mission: To provide the necessary services in a cost effective manner to support quality of life for Sherburne County citizens.

The overall county budget has decreased by approximately $2,000,000 (2.65%). However, due to declining revenues and other factors, the proposed tax statements were calculated using a 2.5% increase to the tax levy. Additional savings were found in a number of areas since that time and the budget tonight is being presented with a 2.18% increase when compared to the 2014 levy. In addition, a one time rebate was issued to the County Rail Authority resulting in an opportunity to reduce the County Rail Levy by 8% per year over 5 years. This would reduce the combined County levy increase to 1.76%. The Average countywide residential value has increased approximately 8% for taxes payable in Even had the County Levy remained constant, the average household would still have received a property tax increase due to the inflation of the housing market. At the same time, Commercial, Industrial and Multi-Family property values were flat or in many cases decreased causing the majority of these properties to see tax reductions. Tax Summary
