Youth Programs Formula & Competitive  WIA formula youth program – Serves low-income, in-school and out-of-school youth ages – Funds activities to improve educational and skill competencies and to build connections to employers and postsecondary education. – Includes case management, leadership development, mentoring, educational and occupational training and supportive services. – Local program design includes developing service strategies tailored to specific individual employment goals.  YouthBuild – Provides occupational skills training, educational, and leaderships development competitive grant program assisting out-of-school youth, ages 16-24, in entering a career pathway.  Reintegration of Ex-Offenders (RExO) – Youth and Adult – The youth RExO portfolio consists of programs that provide educational skills training, occupational learning, restorative justice and employment opportunities for youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 that have been involved in the juvenile justice system. WIA Youth Program Who we serve  WIA formula funded youth program serves in-school and out-of-school youth ages who are low income, and have one or more of the following barriers: – deficient in basic literacy skills; – school dropout; – homeless, runaway or foster child; – pregnant or parenting; – offender; or – require additional assistance to complete an educational program, or to secure and hold employment (including a youth with a disability).

Services under the WIA Youth Program  Academic – Tutoring, study skills training, and dropout prevention activities – Alternative secondary school offerings  Vocational – Work experience year round and during the summer months – Occupational skills training – Leadership development activities  Support – Supportive services – Mentoring – Follow-up services – Comprehensive guidance and counseling Employment and Training Administration
