2 WHY VNIX?  Before VNIX: No Domestic Internet eXchange point. International Internet channels for both Domestic and Itl traffic. High latency. Low quality local content. Costs.

3 VNIX INTRODUCTION  VNIX has started in testbed on November 8,  Funded and managed by Vietnam Internet network Information center (VNNIC).  Now, 2 seperate VNIX points established: The main one in Hanoi capital (The North of Vietnam). The second in Ho Chi Minh city (The South of Vietnam).  4 Vietnamese major IXP/ISP members.

4 VNIX INFRASTRUCTURE  Switch - Cisco 6509, 2 Units.  Route server - Cisco 2621, 2 Units.  MRTG Server - IBM server, 1 Unit.  Netflow server - Sun sever, 1 Unit.  Smart UPS 10KVA and Generator power backup.  Transmission: 3 providers.

5 AVAILABLE RESOURCES  Switching layer 2 - FastEthernet and GigaEthernet ports.  Rack mount; Air-conditioner; Room space; Power and Monitoring 24h/365days.  ASN and IP address: VNIX Hanoi: AS23899; /24 VNIX Ho Chi Minh: AS23962; /24

6 VNIX POLICY  Neutral Internet eXchange point.  Currently free of charge.  Forced Multilateral Peering Agreement (MLPA).  Single eBGP session with VNIX route server.  Members need to have their own ASN.  Terminal equipments and transmission have to be built by members.  Allowing members to have backdoor connections for backup.
