Definitions of Indicators IndicatorsDefinitionsMeasurements Freshwater available for Use Potable water that is available for Extraction Imperial Gallons (G) Total Water Use No. of potable gallons pumped for the available sources of water. Imperial Gallon (G)

Method of Computation The available freshwater for use that supply the federation comes from two (2) main sources: Underground Water Surface Water

Data Sources St. Kitts Water Department Nevis Water Department

Years Available Total Consumption by source type – 1977 to 2013 Total surface water by location – 1981 to 2013 Detail information on the totals are do not go back as far.

Challenges & Inconsistencies The following data was not available: – The Available Freshwater for Use Base on the collaboration between St. Kitts Water Department and Nevis Water Department there is no periodic records on this measure. However, in past reports they had been figures mention but no accurate figure as to the current availability of freshwater for use can be stated.

Data Relevance and Use Water Statistics are very crucial to an island development. Without this a country would not be able to say: If a particular area will need greater supply due increase population. The months where water supply may be low due to demand or inadequate rainfall. The growth or reduction in water usage by area.
