Vision At RSM, we're focused on learning for all. We work collaboratively to give our students a rich and meaningful educational experience that fosters a lifelong love of learning. Our students work hard, set and reach goals, develop successful interpersonal and workplace skills, and leave here better prepared for life's challenges.

Welcome to the 7 th grade!!!! First day, Sept. 7 th, start time 10:00 a.m. The regular school day starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m. On our PLC days school starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 12:35 p.m.

Monitoring Student Progress Each trimester lasts 12 weeks Report cards available at the end of each trimester Progress reports available at the 6 th week of each trimester Parents able to monitor grades on- line

Differences Between Your School and RSM … Dress out for PE everyday! 6 teachers with a rotating schedule Two sets of books (no lockers) Both 1 and 2 lunch schedules Finals Larger campus with more students Promotion Requirements Dances Counselor Electives Extracurricular activities: ASB, PAL, KRSM, FHA, Parks & Rec. sports

Electives Due to budget and staffing, students have limited choice in their electives. We do our best. We offer a rich electives program. No guarantees. Elective cards due to 6 th grade teachers by April 29 th !!!

Promotion Requirements Your Grade Point Average (GPA) must be at least 1.5 for the entire year Math GPA must be at least 1.0 English GPA must be at least 1.0 No more than 3 “F” grades for the year Score at or above level 2 on the CST- STAR test

Ways you can be successful in 7 th grade!!!! Good Attendance Use your planner everyday DO your Homework and TURN it in!!!! Get extra help Communicate with teachers – Ask for help! Check your grades online (parents that means you too!) Stay Organized!!! Plan on minutes per night per academic subject

Attendance Absences- All absences MUST be called into the 24 hour absence line or a note MUST come to the attendance window, first thing in the morning, on the day the student returns –Homework Request accepted on 3 rd day of absence –Independent Study – one week advance notice –Tardy – note required to be excused –Early Dismissals – must be received first thing in the morning

Campus Safety and Discipline Progressive Discipline Dress Code – Please read the dress code policy which is available on-line Bell to bell, no cell! Students aren’t allowed to use electronic devices with headphones (iPods, etc.)

Upcoming Dates…… Open House – April 28 th 7:00 PM – 8:30 p.m. Roadrunner Rally (RRR) – August 24 th and 25 th –Look for a postcard in the mail (end of July) to inform you of when to pick up your registration packet –If you do not receive a postcard, please come to the office with verification of your address. We accept 2 different proofs of residence: your gas, water or electric bills Locator pickup on-line or in person (9/2)

Registration Math Placement Test –Taken between March 29 th – April 1 st –To determine math level placement Math 7 or Pre-Algebra Advanced scores on math placement test will allow students the opportunity to take Algebra Readiness Test (ART) Honors Placement Based on 6 th grade teacher recommendation

Roadrunner Rally Things to do and bring to Roadrunner Rally - Both parents/guardians and students read the Annual Notice Booklet on-line - Read and sign everything in the packet - Bring the following items: 1. SVUSD student registration form 2. Disaster emergency card 3. Annual Notices card 4. Receipt form and checks 5. Backpack for textbooks

Pertussis Immunization Law Students must have a Pertussis vaccine booster and provide supporting documentation before the first day of the school year. Please have your child vaccinated with a Pertussis booster before the end of the current school year.
