What is a Cohort? A student’s COHORT YEAR is the year that he/she is expected to graduate from High School. The cohort year is based on the student’s CONTRACT YEAR. The CONTRACT YEAR is the first year the student entered 9 th grade. HS Graduation Requirements change with a student’s cohort.

Keep Doors OPEN for our Students! Make sure students have access to the most academically rigorous curriculum that they can complete successfully. Offer a variety of Academic Electives that are recognized on the Comprehensive Course Directory. Be aware of the changing Graduation Requirements. Advise students based on their future goals, not just on HS graduation requirements. Make sure that we involve parents, community members, mentors and all other stakeholders in our discussions and decisions. Make sure that Professional School Counselors access all students throughout the year as part of an Comprehensive /Guidance Program, not just as part of the course selection process.
