University Programs Bachelor Programs (attend immediately after high school) General Degree (3 years) Honours (4 years) Faculties (varies by school) Art and Science Engineering Business Social Science Health Science (Nursing, Biomedical etc.) Education Graduate Programs (university experience required) Master’s (2 years) followed by Doctorate (PHD) (4 years) Medical, Law, Dental, Physiotherapy, Vetininary etc.

Research Investigate the different unviersity/programs available to you. University Information Program (UIP) Oct. 22 at Quinte S.S.(9 –11 am). One bus will be available to bring students. Submit permission forms to the guidance office as soon as possible. University Research Sessions ◦ November 2 in the guidance office. Campus Tours/books/websites Liaison Visits – Sept. to Nov. Sign up in guidance.

Research Schools can begin downloading to OUAC October 3, OUAC will generate PIN # for all graduating students. Must have PIN# to apply (early Nov.) Interesting information/details about each university Lists many of the unique programs that are available between university and college Check out the OUAC application anonymously

Application Deadline Apply and pay online by January 15, 2014 for equal consideration in Ontario. University Application Support ◦ Tuesday November 5 and Tuesday November 19 at lunch in the library lab. Marks will be downloaded to OUAC Fall 2013 – Grade 11 and 12 marks & courses in your timetable February 2014 – Final First Semester Marks April 2014 – Midterm Marks July 2014 – Final Second Semester Marks August 2014 – Summer School Marks Out of Province – Some schools will use the marks in your OUAC account. Others will require a transcript mailed to the school. Please notify a guidance counsellor ASAP if you are planning to apply out of province or to a private university.

Application Fees Ontario Universities $130 for three programs, $44 for each additional program Out of Province McGill University $100 by February 1, 2014 University of British Columbia $63 by February 3, 2014 Dalhousie $65-$70 by February 1, 2014 –June 1, 2014

Important Dates January 15, 2014 Applications received and paid for on or before this date will be given equal consideration by colleges (some programs however, fill on a first come, first serve basis) May 29, 2014 The latest date by which you can expect a response from an Ontario University. Such a response will be one of: An offer of admission A refusal A deferral pending receipt of specific additional information June 2, 2014 The earliest date by which Ontario Universities may require a response to an offer of admission and a financial commitment of any kind(residence deposit) from an Ontario Secondary School Student.

Financial Assistance Entrance Scholarship: money that is automatically awarded by the college, based on your average ( for example 80%+ received $500). This is usually deducted from your tuition. Scholarships: usually based on marks and criteria set by the donor. You must apply for these (i.e. Chancellor Scholarships). Bursaries: mostly based on financial need (i.e. First Generation Bursary). Loans: monies must be repaid (i.e. OSAP) Grants: Based on Financial Need

OSAP Apply in May 2014 once you have an accepted offer to a university Get an estimate of how much money to expect from OSAP.
