Government Monitoring & Technology Definition… Study of how technology may be used to regulate social behavior and promote government goals. You will… Consider current events in the U.S. today related to government monitoring and technology Consider specific advancements in technology that make government monitoring possible Study how government monitoring and technology influence the novel.

Language and Control Definition… Consider how limits placed on language by society and governments can be used to control the flow of thoughts and ideas. You will… Research the history of language development as it parallels the distribution of power Consider language that is taboo or even legally dangerous in the U.S. today Evaluate the use of language to promote Party goals in the novel
