Our school system

General compulsory education In 1774 Empress Maria Theresia established the general compuslory education (from the age of 6 to 12). In Austria children must attend school for 9 years.

Childcare In Nussdorf-Debant we have a Mother-Child- Center, a instituition that cares for children, whose parents are working. The children can stay there from 7a.m. to 7p.m. The childcare also is opened the whole year.

Kindergarten In Nussdorf-Debant there also is a kindergarten, where children first can go to when they are 3 years old. In Austria it is compulsory to attend kindergarten for 1 year.

School Regulation In Austria it‘s possible to repeat a certain class (course) if a pupil fails it. If a pupil‘s school certificate contains more than two „Nicht Genügend“ (E) he/she has to repeat the class (course). But if the school certificate ONLY contains two „Nicht Genügend“ (E), there still is the chance of doing a repeat examination in autumn.

Our grading system In Austria there are 5 different grades: A  Sehr gut (1) – best grade A  Sehr gut (1) – best grade B  Gut (2) B  Gut (2) C  Befriedigend (3) C  Befriedigend (3) D  Genügend (4) D  Genügend (4) E  Nicht Genügend (5) E  Nicht Genügend (5)
