Heart Attack When a section of the heart is blocked by fatty tissue, the blood can’t flow. This causes that section of the heart muscle to die due to the lack of oxygen.

What causes harm to the Cardiac Muscle? UNHEALTHY HEART INADEQUATE DIET (SATURATED FAT, SALT AND SUGAR EXCESS) HIGH BLOOD CHOLESTEROL OBESITY HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE DIABETES SMOKING PHYSICAL INACTIVITY TAKING CERTAIN DRUGS EMOTIONAL STRESS OR PAIN EXPOSURE TO EXTREME COLD

Healthy Heart Guidelines In 2006, 45,670 people died from Cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Australia. People who are 65 to 74 years old are the most at risk. If they smoke, eat greasy food or are overweight, their risk will increase. That is why it is important for young people to live a healthy life to prevent being at risk. They can do this by:  Not eating fatty foods, and having a low-fat diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, wholegrain-based foods, moderate amounts of lean meats, reduced fat dairy products, as well as lowering the salt intake. If they do eat fatty foods, this will cause obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes. When either high blood pressure or diabetes or both are present, CVD can result.  Not smoking.  Losing weight if they're overweight.  Doing physical activity to improve heart fitness.
