From contact teaching to distant teaching : Kuopio University’s experiences compulsory Information Retrieval and Library Skills course for all students from 1972 challenges: how to motivate students and allow them more freedom in choosing the right time for IL studies need to create web-courses > TieDot-project (7 universities/15 discipline based courses In Kuopio we have at the present web-courses for 10 disciplines contact teaching – pros and cons Web teaching - pros and cons fixed scheduling difficulties in continuity non-individual difficulties in motivation freedom of choice (time and place) individual (tutoring) easier to integrate to one’s own studies time consuming (teacher’s)
