 David’s opportunity to kill Saul – 1 Sam. 24:1-4  David’s reaction to cutting Saul’s robe - 1 Sam 24:5  David’s attitude toward the Lord’s anointed – 1 Sam. 24:6  David’s instructions to his men regarding Saul – 1 Sam 24:7

 Saul was awakened to his guilt – “you are more righteous than I” – 1 Sam. 24:17  Saul wished that the Lord would reward David with good - 1 Sam 24:18,19  Saul acknowledged that David would be king – 1 Sam. 24:20-22

 We overcome evil by doing good – not evil – Rom 12:20,21; 1 Tim 2:8; 1 Pet 2:12; 3:16  Submission to abusive authority does not express support and is limited – Acts 4:19; 5:29  We must stand for truth without compromising – Rev 14:8-12; Mat 14:3,4

 He recognized God’s ordained authority and refused to harm the Lord’s anointed  He respected God’s Ordained Authority by humbling himself before his enemy -  His actions resulted in blessing

 We must learn to rule ourselves – Prov 16:32; 25:28; 1 Cor 9:27  We will not be over the things God has placed under us until we get under the things God has placed over us – Jam 4:7-10; 1 Peter 5:5
