Welcome to The Lincy Forum What is The Lincy Institute?  Thanks, Lincy Found./ Dream Fund! Today’s Conference:  Follows up on the November 2013 Conference that Rolled Out the Tripp Umbach Study on a Las Vegas Allopathic Medical School  Focus—Valuing a Medical School

A Short History? How Can You Give a History of Something That Technically Does Not Exist? This is a Brief Review of the Work Lincy and Brookings did on the Establishing the Case for an Allopathic Med School in Las Vegas

The History Brookings Institution- Brookings Mountain West-SRI International, Nevada Economic Development Plan Recommendation: The State Should Support a Medical School in Las Vegas to Diversify the Economy The North/South “M&M Strategy”

The History Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program Analysis of Top 100 U.S. Metros Heath Service Employment Key Finding: Las Vegas has the Smallest Share of Health Service Workers of any U.S. Metro Area

The History Lincy Institute Commissioned Study by Tripp Umbach LLC of the Economic Impact of an Allopathic Medical School in Las Vegas Conclusion: An UNLV Medical School would have a 1.1 Billion per Year Impact by 2030 and Would add 8,000 Jobs

Today— Lincy Institute Commissions a Brookings Institution Analysis of Federal Funding for a UNLV Medical School Conclusion: A UNLV Medical School would Add Over 50 Million in Federal Funding Within a Decade of Founding a Medical School

Today—2014 A Just Published Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program Metro Monitor Shows:  Las Vegas Health Services Maintain a 0.64 “Location Quotient” as of the Second Quarter of 2014  During both the Recession and Recovery Health Service Jobs Grew 10.8% and 11.6% Respectively

What is a Location Quotient? A Location Quotient is Defined as the Metro Area Share of Total Jobs in a Given Industry Divided by the Comparable Share Nationwide. Values Greater than One Demonstrate a Greater than the National Average Share of Jobs in that Industry, Indicating Specialization
