hue: a color or a shade of color Part of Speech: noun “Strawberry red” and “rose red” are the names of hues. Choose a descriptive name for each of these hues: light blue dark yellow bright orange light pink medium green A rainbow has seven colors. Which hue is your favorite? What do you own in that hue?

wince: to pull back or make a face in fear or pain Part of Speech: verb Would you wince if you… got an “A” on a test? were getting a shot? were having a birthday party? had to take bad-tasting medicine? got your tooth drilled by the dentist? Describe a situation that makes you wince.

compromise: when people give in a little to settle a disagreement Part of Speech: verb In which of these situations could people compromise? You’re invited to a beach party on the day of your family reunion. Your brother wants macaroni and cheese, but you want pizza. Your dad gets a $25 traffic ticket, but he only wants to pay $10. Choose one of the situations listed above and tell how the people might compromise.
