Life characteristics Omnivore, it eats both plants and other animals It can be from 5 to 8 feet long and weigh around 700 pounds It has an average life span of 25 years They dig big dens for winter hibernation They can withstand cold temperatures

Life characteristics A brown bear is a predator A female brown bear can reproduce between the ages of 5 to 7 years old, while a male may be a few years later A female can have between 1 and 4 cubs, but usually 2 They have cubs about every 3 years

Facts A brown bear is considered as a loner type animal They can reach speeds of 40 mph The largest wild brown bear ever recorded weighed 2000 pounds

Status At one time brown bears were on the endangered species list, but have been moved off that list. They were endangered because they were being over hunted and their habitat was being destroyed.
