What are the Benefits of a Free Trade Certificate?  Reduction of Import Duty  Faster Border Clearance Tariff Finder: finder

How do I get a Certificate of Origin for my good? To obtain a Certificate of Origin, the good must be classified as originating from New Zealand.  Your good must be last processed in New Zealand.  Qualify under the following Origin Criteria - Wholly Originating - Wholly Produced - Product Specific Rules

Qualifying Criteria In a Nutshell… Wholly Originating Your good is a raw material or made from raw materials which come from New Zealand

Qualifying Criteria In a Nutshell… Wholly Produced Your good is made only from materials that originate from New Zealand and the territory of FTA Members Parties (but the final processing of the good must be done here)

Qualifying Criteria In a Nutshell… Product Specific Rules (PSR) Your good is made from some materials that originate outside of NZ and the territory of FTA member parties OR has materials of unknown origin The rule for each good varies. In each case the good will be tested against the rules which apply to that good to determine if it qualifies. In general, if you have ‘non-originating’ goods your good will need to be sufficiently processed in New Zealand to qualify.

What kind of Information will I need for the Certificate?  HS Code (6 digit Tariff Code)  Exporter, Consignee, Shipping, Invoice Details  Number and Type of Packaging, Gross Weight or other Measure  The name of the good (in simple terms) Eg. Nylon rather than hexamethylene diamine  The materials / parts / ingredients used to make the good

What kind of documentation will I need to provide?  Declarations from Producers/Growers/Manufacturers  Health Certificates  Materials List  Brochures/Websites etc.

Let’s have a look at an example…
