Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Find a career that’s right for you It’s important to choose a career that you want. Not what someone else wants you to do. Do you know what you want? Many students and school leavers are not sure what to choose. What ever you choose, it’s important to realise that you have special strengths and qualities that will give you the most job satisfaction provided you are in the right job.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 What does My Career Match do ? My Career Match explains what your talents and gifts are. It tells you your personality type, who you are and what values you would bring to a job. Your Career Profile report presents career options that you may not have considered. It offers content to add to your resume that will help an employer value your potential.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 How do we know your style ? My Career Match uses preference based behavioural analysis to determine your personal style. We use a series of similar questions to triangulate your response to discover your style.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 A closer look at each style No matter where you come from or what you believe in, your personality is made up of four styles: Driver, Promoter, Supporter and Analyser. The styles that are the most intense (see your career report graph) are the ones that determine your behaviour. Lets take a closer look at the four dominant styles.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Driver Driver qualities are: Can do attitude Confident & decisive Assertive & competitive Results oriented Task & information focused Fast paced & want to do it now Drivers are outgoing people who want to do things their way. They like to be in charge and are ready to have a go. Drivers like to keep busy and find it hard to sit still. If the subject isn’t about a practical application they can use, they get bored. They’ve got good ideas and enjoy solving problems. Their report card probably read “can’t sit still and disrupts the class” D

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Ideal jobs for Drivers Where they can lead and be in control. They have a desire for achievement makes them great entrepreneurs and leaders. Drivers are good with tools, machinery and equipment. They enjoy freedom and this quality is ideal for trades and ‘hands on’ jobs. They are good with tasks and getting the job done. Drivers work at a fast pace so jobs that are slow are not ideal. They are good problem solvers and innovators. Drivers are not good with people and can have poor relationships skills. They are better at task oriented jobs rather than people jobs. Ideal jobs for Drivers are; Finance, Entrepreneurs, Management, Military, Construction, Self Employed, Athletes, Lawyers, Newsreaders, Information Technology, Administrators, Coaches, Consultants, Sales Professionals.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Promoters Promoter qualities are: People oriented Animated & emotional Creative, enthusiastic leaders Lots of ideas, bubbly, outgoing Fast paced & spontaneous Prefer working with others Excellent persuasive skills Promoters are more interested in people than in tasks. They want to be around people and are inspirational leaders. They are idealist who want to make the world a better place They are always on the go and interested in fashion and celebrity gossip. Promoters enjoy being the centre of attention. Their report card probably read “contributes to class discussion but needs to pay more attention” P

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Ideal Jobs for Promoters The ideal job for a Promoter is to work with people. Be in charge, be able to travel and have a variety of creative assignments where their organising and promotional talents are used. Sitting behind a desk for too long is not what a Promoter wants. With strong communication skills they make ideal motivators, leaders and managers. They are creative people who want to make the world a better place. The jobs Promoters are best matched to are ones where they work with and influence others. People jobs such as: Media, Fund Raising, Travel, Actors, Hospitality, Communication, Teaching, Personnel, Marketing, Beauty, Fashion, Design, Retail, Public Relations, Charities, Events, Planning, Customer Service and Religion

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Ideal jobs for Supporters Ideal jobs for Supporters are where they can work with people and systems in a friendly team environment. They are good at helping others and working within rules and processes. Supporters have strong administrative skills, can solve problems and are good sorting out people problems and conflicts. They are not good with people so prefer task oriented careers. Ideal Jobs include: Finance, Accounting, Administration, Research, Scientific, Academic, Technology, Computers. Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Construction, Trades, Education, Crafts, Medical, Graphic design, Legal, Photography, Inventors, Mechanics.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Steps to choosing a CAREER Do you have the right personality for the job? Does your personality style match your career choice? Is the job of interest to you? Does the job appeal to you? Are you studying the subjects needed for the job? Is your education path in line with your career goals?

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Four Styles in Action Many writers use four characters to build their story around. They assign a behaviour to each person and that helps them write “in character”. Here are some examples…

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Harry Potter Most schools have four houses so does Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. When students arrive they have the ‘sorting hat’ placed on their heads which reads their personalities and assigns a house to each student. Slythern are Drivers "Here you are in Slytherin where you'll make your real friends, Those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends.“ Gryffindor are Promoters "You belong in Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindor’s apart.“ Hufflepuff are Supporters "You belong in Hufflepuff, where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid to toil.“ Ravenclaw are Analysers "Here in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Those of wit and learning will always find their kind."

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 The Simpsons Many TV shows are created around four main characters. The Simpsons is the longest running comedy show on TV. Homer is a Promoter. He’s always got an idea or scheme and no matter what goes wrong he bounces back and is always optimistic. He wants the good things in life and to have fun. He’s very much a big picture person and not very concerned with details or problems he may cause. Bart is a Driver. He is always looking to gain an advantage for himself. He’s inward looking and often ignores people’s feelings. He tries to figure out a way for him to get the most by doing the least. He’s full of action and can’t sit still. Marge is a Supporter. She looks after the family, is concerned about each of them and provides encouragement when they’re down and recognition when they succeed. She’s interested in security and doesn’t like change. She puts others ahead of herself. Lisa is an Analyser. She's smart, talented, has attention to detail and wants to do everything right. She practices, is top of the class and cares about politics and the environment. She’s a tender soul who doesn’t like failure or being criticised or being made fun of.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Ninja Turtles Ninja Turtles is another example of four different personality styles coming together to complement each other and form a great team. Each has special qualities the others don’t have. Leonardo is the leader of the group and a Driver. He keeps the others in line. He’s in control directing the team to their next project. Raphael has attitude and is a Promoter. His judgement usually causes trouble for all. His ideas are never thought out as to the consequences. Michelangelo is a Supporter. He’s optimistic and prevents fights between the other turtles. He keeps the peace and is ready to help. Donatello is an Analyser and is the brains of the group. He’s the craftsman who makes all their weapons.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Each of the four gospels represents a different personality style and each describes their account of the life of Jesus differently. The value of having all four styles portray these events is to create a ‘complete’ picture of who Jesus was. 1.Mark is a Driver Mark uses direct language and tells it as it happened without flowery language 2.John is a Promoter John is more spiritual, speaks of divine relationships and of a higher place 3.Luke is a Supporter Luke is more humble and recounts events in detail, focusing on man 4.Mathew is an Analyser Mathew goes into detail, supported by quotations and genealogy Four Gospels

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 In Business When Disney opened their first theme park in 1950 they designed the park to appeal to people of all four styles. They wanted everyone who came to enjoy and experience something that matched their personal style. Disney created four theme parks.

Copyright Myprofile Pty Ltd 2008 Disneyland Adventureland appeals to Drivers. Excitement, Action, Exploration, Pirate dens Haunted houses, Activity Fantasyland appeals to Promoters. World of dreams and make believe, fairy tails, it’s a small world, knights in shining armour and damsels in distress. Main Street attracts Supporters. Old fashioned values, Family, Horseless carriages, Family restaurants, Gift shops, Old fire and police stations Tomorrowland attracts Analysers. A world of science and technological, Space travel and exploration, Monorails, Interactive hi tech futuristic displays.
