Christopher Andrew Hoy Was born 23 March 1976 in Edinburgh Hoy went to school at George Watson's College In 1996 Continued his studies at the University of St Andrews 1999 graduated Moray House at the University of Edinburgh with a Bsc in sports science In July 2005 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh and another from Heriot-Watt University in November 2005

Hoy was inspired to cycle at the age six by the film E.T the Extra-Terrestrial Between the ages 7 and 14 Chris raced BMX. He was Scottish Champion, British No 2, European No 5 and World No 9 He also rowed and played rugby at George Watson’s College.
