TOBACCO  Smoking behaviors often begin in adolescence  Advertisements encourage the idea that these behaviors are acceptable Smoking can have devastating effects on health

WHY PEOPLE USE TOBACCO  Most adolescents do not believe there is a great risk in smoking cigarettes  Friends and family smoke  Experimentation  Low self-esteem, susceptibility to peer pressure  Sensation-seeking, rebelliousness, anxiety

TYPES OF TOBACCO  Cigarettes  Cigars  Pipes  Chewing tobacco  Snuff (more finely cut or powdered for sniffing or dipping)
