Angel Falls  This is the largest waterfall in the world.  The falls were first sighted in the 1930s.  They were named after James Angel when he crash landed in a nearby mesa.  Angel Falls has the longest uninterrupted drop which is 804 meters long and has a 152 meter wide base.  It is located in southeastern Venezuela on the Churun River.  People that come to the falls say that it looks as if the water is leaping from a flat- topped plate called ”Devils Mountain.”  These Falls are about 20 times higher than Nigeria. Angel Falls is an amazing waterfall so come over and see!

Lake Titicaca  Located between Bolivia and Peru.  This is the world’s highest lake, 12,500 feet above sea level.  It’s dry and very cold at night (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit), but it’s sunny during the day (55 degrees Fahrenheit).  The rainy season is from December to March, in these months hail is common.  Bolivia and Peru lost the War of the Pacific in 1879 to Come visit Lake Titicaca to learn more about its history!

Amazon River  This is the second longest river in the world.  The Amazon River is located in South America. It runs through Guyana, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia and Peru.  It is about 4000 miles long.  In the wet season can be over 120 miles wide.  The largest city along the Amazon River is Manaus. More than 1.7 million people live in Manaus.  Most of the Amazon River runs through rain forests not roads or cities.  There are more than 3000 different kinds of fish that live in the Amazon River.  Anacondas live in the shallow waters of the Amazon Basin, the Amazon River is also home to piranhas. Come to the Amazon River and explore the river and cities!

San Agustin  Located in Columbia near Mountains.  Famous for stone figures.  San Agustin has beautiful black sandy beaches and there is a resort close by called Playa del Ingles has beaches with water sports.  There are also water sports in the Gran Canaria Resort too.  In San Agustin about 300 statues have been found. They guard a group of half buried temples and tombs. These statues were carved between 100 and 1200 AD. Come and see these wonderful statues and resorts in San Agustin!

Machu Picchu  Located in Peru.  This is the lost city of the Incas.  The ancient city of Machu Picchu was discovered in  Explorers found ruins of temples, palaces, fortresses and a royal tomb. They found remains of the stone aqueducts that brought water into the city from over a mile away. They also found remains of terrace gardens and homes for farmers, nobles, and priests. They found wonderful pottery.  Once, there were intihuatanas all over the Incan empire. But Machu Picchu is the only place one of these has been found intact. All the rest were destroyed by the Spanish invaders. In Machu Picchu there are a lot of places to look around so come and visit!
