ZONES SOFTWARE

What needs to happen?

Intelligent devices with intelligent control panels, allow almost unlimited flexibility through the use of Software Zones!

WHAT IS A SOFTWARE ZONE? FIRST LET’S DISCUSS WHAT ITS’ NOT! A software zone is not a group of devices specifically wired together to form a “WIRED ZONE” A software zone is not a geographical zone such as a “BUILDING OR A FLOOR ZONE”

A SOFTWARE ZONE IS: A function within the control panel that allows the programming of a variety of output responses based on various initiating events known as: “CBE’s” (Control By Event)

Word Association HOT TRUE ON HIGH ONE (1) ACTIVE COLD FALSE OFF LOW ZERO (0) INACTIVE

A SOFTWARE ZONE HAS JUST TWO STATES: ACTIVE or INACTIVE

The control panel operates CBE’s through Lists of ZONES.

A ZONE becomes listed when it is added to a device points ZONE map through “POINT PROGRAMMING”

These lists are associations between INPUTS and OUTPUTS.

A zone (ZONE 47) mapped to a smoke detectors CBE list and the same zone (ZONE 47) mapped to a NAC’s CBE list constitute an association. BASIC EXAMPLE

Now, lets assume that the detectors goes into alarm. ZONE 47

The control panel during its polling cycle determines that the detector is in alarm. ZONE 47

THE ZONE(s) IN THE DETECTORS CBE LIST NOW BECOME ACTIVE. ZONE47

The control panel checks to see if there are any devices that have ZONE (Z47) mapped to their CBE lists. The control panel identifies the NAC as having ZONE (Z47) in its’ CBE list.

The control panel activates the NAC. 47 ZONE

(Note: The ZONE (Z47) did not activate the NAC)

Please note: THE DETECTOR AND THE NAC DO NOT HAVE TO BE ON THE SAME (SIGNALING LINE CIRCUIT) SLC!!!!
