Causes of climate change- Natural causes Most of the country consists of a huge flood plain and delta. Snowmelt from the Himalayas takes place in late spring and summer. 70% of the total area is less than 1 meter above sea level. 10% of the land area is made up of Lakes and Rivers.
Causes of climate change- Man made causes Deforestation in Nepal and the Himalayas increases run off and flow downstream. Urbanization of the flood plain has increased the scale and frequency of floods. Global warming is blamed for sea level rise, increased snow melt and increased rainfall.
Affects of climate change During the flooding in 2007 the death toll rose to 500 people and 5 million were affected Over 18 major floods have taken place in the last 30 years Some people say that Bangladesh will be wiped off the map in about 10 year
How do the people deal with the problems of climate change? They build flood shelters They build small dams They build their houses on sticks to avoid they floods Bangladesh is a less developed country and is supplied with less technology than more developed countries when attempting to deal with climate change
