OPENING AN IN HOME DAYCARE THESIS PROJECT

PURPOSE To turn the first floor of a two family home into an In-home daycare This will respond to the need of quality daycare providers in our area To provide convenient, affordable, and quality daycare for infants to children up to four years old Opportunity to work at home, increase current income, and have more flexibility with my schedule

Setting First floor of a two-family home Consists of four rooms, which will provide a room for learning, a room for playing, a room for napping/quiet time activities, and a full eat-in kitchen The playroom will lead into the fenced back yard Large basement will (future) provide a large indoor play area.

Location/Scope First floor of a two-family home located at 3340 Woodburn Avenue in Evanston Close to Xavier University, University of Cincinnati, & Walnut Hills High School Also conveniently located to downtown, Norwood, Hyde Park, and Oakley Scope of project is large considering the number of areas in Cincinnati that could potentially benefit from this daycare being opened

4C Provides CDA & other certification classes for Daycare providers Family Child Care Registry for Ohio Providers Child & Adult Food Program – Tier I & II Provides Information to help providers become certified/licensed – 20 min. standards Provides Insurance Program

Hamilton County Provides information to providers to become certified/licensed – Type A & Type B providers Provides financial assistance to families needing help to pay for childcare

Mission Little Links to Learning will be a state licensed; fully insured facility with CPR and basic first aid certified staff. Our mission is to provide a childcare environment staffed by capable and caring individuals who provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment for every child entrusted to our care at an affordable price. Little Links will provide a high level of educational activities to ensure each child is prepared to enter Kindergarten when it is time. Little Links will strive to provide the highest quality, developmentally appropriate care for every child.

Goals Goal 1 – July 2012, repairs & cosmetic work complete ready for inspection Goal 2 – End of August 2012, passed inspection to become Type A provider Goal 3- - December 2012 – basement finished and indoor play area completed Goal 4 – May 2013 – backyard work completed to finish safe and up to standard outdoor play area Goal 5 – August 2013, addition of Before & After school program, as well as tutoring services provided
