Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission  Founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States  Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children, ages 6-18, in communities across the country  National research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentors have a direct and measurable impact on children's lives.

History of Big Brothers Big Sisters TThe idea of developing one-to-one mentoring relationships can be traced back to IIn 1904, Ernest Coulter, a court clerk in New York City, started New York Big Brothers IIn 1905, Mrs. John Okeefe began a Big Sisters program in New York City after learning of the Big Brothers program's success

Big Brothers Big Sisters Impact BBig Brothers Big Sisters’ one-to-one youth mentoring has been shown to have a significant and positive impact on the lives of children. SStudies Have Shown 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs 27% less likely to begin using alcohol 52% less likely to skip school 37% less likely to skip a class more confident of their performance in schoolwork one-third less likely to hit someone getting along better with their families
