After-School Activities and Hobbies

We surveyed three different classes from three different grades: - Mrs. Sergnese_____ Grade 3 - Mrs. Mittof _______ Grade 5 - Mrs. Morgado_____ Grade 7 ● We separated the surveys by gender and recorded the result in a Tally chart. ● We asked seven questions:

Questions 1- Are you Female or Male? 2- What do you do after school or in your free time? -Watch TV - Listen to music -Play games indoor - Use the computer -Babysit - Talk on the phone -Play outside - Homework -Housework - Other 3- What kind of sports do you play? - Hockey - Basketball -Volleyball -Soccer - None - Other

Questions 4- How many hours of TV do you watch every week? -1 to 10h -10 to 30h - 30 to 50h -50 to 150h - None 5- How often do you read? -Never - Rarely - Very often - Always 6-After school do you hang out with your friends? -Never - Sometimes - Very often - Always 7- Are your parents home after school? -Yes -No - Sometimes

Grade 3 27 students

1-Are you a girl or a boy? Pie Graph

Double bar graph By looking at the bar graph and the pie graph we can see that there are more boys than girls. This can change the results because sometimes girls and boys have different interests and hobbies.

2-What do you do after school or on your free time? This graph shows that girls and boys watch TV more than they like to do homework, Also we can see that kids of the two genders prefer to play indoor instead of playing outside

3-What kind of sports do you play?

3-What kind of sports do you play? The graph proves that grade 3 girls and boys prefer to play Basketball and Soccer

4-How many hours of TV do you watch every week? Most the boys and girls on this grade 3 class watch from 1 to10 h of TV every week, But TV watching is the most common activity in this grade 3 students’ life, a reason to this is that we watch TV a lot, but we are also busy doing other things during the day like homework, and we also spend most of our time at school or other activities. This graph shows that all the students watch TV.

5- How often do you read? Girls Boys This pie graphs show that ALL the students in this class read, it also shows that most of the girls and boys said that they always read

6-After school do you hang out with your friends? This graph proves that boys hang out with their friends more than girls do

7-Are your parents home after school? GirlsBoy Most of the girls of this class said that their parents are home after school, in the other hand the boys said their parents are sometimes at home after school.

Grade 5 29 students

1- Are you a girl or a boy?

1-Are you Male or Female? In this particular classroom there are more girls than boys

2-What do you do after school In this class the activities girls do the most are Watch TV, listen to music, and use the computer, the boys in the other hand prefer to watch TV, do Homework, and play games indoor.

3-What kind of sports do you play? The majority of this Grade 5 male students like to play Hockey, and Basketball more than other sports, in the other hand, girls prefer to play volleyball, but also a big amount of girls said they don’t play sports at all.

4-How many hours of TV do you watch every week? This graph shows that most of grade five students, both girls and boys watch from 1-10h of TV

5- How often do you read? Girls Boys Girls read more often than boys, almost one-third of the girls said they always read and over half of the boys said they rarely read, but none of the boys or girls said they never read.

6-After school do you hang out with your friends? Most of the girls and boys said they sometimes hangout with their friends

7- Are your parents home after school? Most of the people in this class said that their parents are home after school, this seems like an accurate result considering that grade 5 students are too young to be left alone.

Grade 7 29 students

1- Are you female or male? In this class there are more girls than boys

2-What do you do after school or in your free time? In this class girls listen to music and use the computer more than boys, but boys do more homework than girls

3-What kind of sports do you play? Girls in this grade like to play Volleyball, and OTHER sports,in the other hand boys prefer soccer, and basketball

4-How many hours of TV do you watch every week? In this grade most of the girls watch from h of TV, but boys in the other hand watch from 1-10 h.

5-How often do you read? In this class the results are very different from the grade 3 and 5, in this class most of the girls said they rarely read, and most of the boys said they read very often, in this class some of the girls said they never read often, in this class some of the girls said they never read

6-After school do you hang out with your friends? Most of the students in this class said they sometimes hang out with their friends

7-Are your parents home after school? This shows that most of the parents are always home after school

1- Are you a girl or a boy There are more females in grade 7 than in grades 3 and 5, but there are more boys in grade 3 than grade 5 and 7
