2 There are many different types of graphs. pie graph/ circle graph bar graph - single or double frequency tables venn diagrams Tally charts line graphs TRY TO LIST AS MANY AS YOU CAN ON YOUR SLATES DID YOU HAVE ANY MORE??

3 Back to the basics - tally charts HOW MANY STUDENTS HAVE FRECKLES? 4! HOW MANY STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE FRECKLES? 8!

4 Vocabulary The new thing you need to know about tally charts it the word frequency FREQUENCY IS SIMPLY CHANGING THE TALLIES TO A NUMBER THIS NUMBER CAN THEN BE USED TO MAKE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF GRAPHS

5 Bar graphs WHAT CAN you TELL ME ABOUT THIS BAR GRAPH?? I have the kids come up and write in what they know on the lines

6 What about double bar graphs??? out of football, basketball, soccer, and tennis... write your favorite on your slate (pick one!!) FOOTBALL BASKETBALL SOCCER TENNIS FOOTBALL BASKETBALL SOCCER TENNIS 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 I take data from the students and from their data, we make the bar graph on the board

12 Double bar graphs are not more work.... They just require reading the questions very carefully SO READ.... RE-READ.... FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY ARE ASKING YOU... THEN SOLVE!!
