Going Down the Up Escalator Philippians 2:5-11 Going Down the Up Escalator

Philippians 2:5-11 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Philippians 2:5-11 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Seven Steps Down He didn’t grasp his position. He emptied himself. He became a servant. He was made in human likeness. He humbled himself. Became totally obedient. Suffered the cross.

Imitating Christ’s Attitude Leads to healthy relationships. “I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord.” Philippians 4:2

Imitating Christ’s Attitude Leads to healthy relationships. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Ephesians 5:25

Imitating Christ’s Attitude Leads to healthy relationships. Builds unity in the church. “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” Ephesians 5:21

Imitating Christ’s Attitude Leads to healthy relationships. Builds unity in the church. Allows us to do God’s will. “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.” Philippians 2:14-15

The Ultimate Escalator God exalts the humble. Humility leads to joy. “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,” Philippians 2:9
