A different way of thinking

Psychology

These beliefs can still exert an influence on present behavior if we continue to hold on to past thoughts or ideas without questioning the basis for these beliefs.

These beliefs can either limit us or empower us according to whether they are true.

words spoken to us  beliefs  values  what we seek in life

“As a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”

“be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

“take every thought captive”

“that if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think on these things.”

If we want to change our lives we must replace these beliefs given to us in the past by people or circumstances with the truth of God found in His Word as taught to us by His Spirit.

Since Jesus is the perfect example of someone who lived a life that pleases God, Paul encourages us to think like Jesus did.

If you think like Jesus thought, you will live like Jesus lived.

(v. 5-8) “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality

with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!”

So if we think like Jesus as seen here, how will our thoughts change?

Mind shift: Pleasing God isn’t about self-promotion but self-abandonment.

Mind shift: Serving is not what I do. A servant is who I am.

Mind shift: My joy is not based on what happens to me but what God is doing in me and through me.

DESSERT OF LIFE!

This mind shift may or may not lead to much while we are here on earth, but it will pay huge dividends in eternity.

Phil. 2:9-11- “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at

the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus

Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Pray with me, “Help me to think like Jesus thought so I can live like He lived.

Give me the ability to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Jesus.

Give me the desire to think on things that are pure and noble and reject thinking on things that are not.

Renew my mind so I can be transformed into the image of Jesus and not conformed to the image of this world.

Help me to live as a servant of the king and may all I do be for the glory of the name of King Jesus.

Work IN me and THROUGH me to change my world!
