 Reduce public Debt  Short Term: Reduce government expenditure on health care  Long Term- More money can be put into the health care system  Economic growth  Increase government tax revenue.  Increase government health care budget  Increase in Productivity and Efficiency

 Centralized Databases that allow doctors to understand their patients and how to treat them  Larger focus on treatment rather than money  Affordable for Everyone  Free treatment allows patients to inquire about possible sickness early on

 Maximal efficiency is not attained  Competition allows for better quality and cost control  More flexibility in treatments  Healthcare could be directly affected by government cuts  Less medical research funding and investment  Extremely long waits for treatment

 Controlled by the Private Sector  Employees in the Public Sector receive government issued care  45 Million uninsured residents  Citizens in the U.S.A have a very low life expectancy

 Canadian Welfare State  When the government plays a significant role in attempting to ensure economic well- being of its residents (Social welfare safety net)  Canada began to spend more on relief programs or social assistances  Critical look at welfare state:  Inefficiencies,abuse, inequities, effectiveness and cost  Worth trading off for health care

 Taxes are required to be paid by each citizen based on many different factors  The Health Care system is almost entirely supported by taxes  Any family that pays their taxes will be eligible for treatments without the fear of having to pay for high and unexpected expenses
