THE 2015 SOLAR ECLIPSE! By Esther Ramsay

WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? The solar eclipse happens when the sun, the moon, and the Earth are all in line. It hardly ever happens as the earth and moon are always spinning which makes it hard to happen. The sun is bigger than the moon but because the moon is closer on a solar eclipse they look the same size.

TYPES OF ECLPSES There are two types of eclipses. One is called a full eclipse which means that the sun and the moon are completely in line and you can’t see the sun at all. The other is called a partial eclipse and it looks like someone took a big bite out of the sun.

WHAT IS DANGEROUSE ABOUT AN ECLIPSE? You have to wear special sunglasses to witness an eclipse. You could use a special camera too but the glasses are easier to get. Because it gets dark during a solar eclipse. This makes your eyes think that it’s night and they go really big so they can absorb all the light. Because a solar eclipse is so quick there is light almost at once and yours eyes are still big. This will burn your eyes and could lead to blindness.
