Technical Writers Christina Cortez Period 8

I create instructions for manuals, journal articles, and other supporting documents to make more clearly to for others to understand, complex and technical information more easily. We also develop, gather, and disseminate(spread) technical information among customers, designers, and manufacturers, with using pictures or etc.

What kind of environment is it like? Most of these Technical Writers work in companies, mostly directly employed by the companies that use their skills. Yet some are in a freelance basis( which is when they re paid by anyone who could appoint them, yet don’t stay in the same industry for so long) and are paid by each assignment. Doing things like writing about a new product or coordinating the work and communicating among different offices to keep a project on track. They would work in evenings and weekends coordinating to those in other time zones or to meet deadlines, most would work full time. They would work in evenings and weekends coordinating to those in other time zones or to meet deadlines, most would work full time.

The requirements? Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or communications and knowledge of specialized field, such as engineering, computer science, or medicine. It even helps to know how to use a web design. Training: On the job training Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations You could get certifications from the Society for Technical Communication, and the American Medical Writers Association can give extensive continuing education programs and certificates in medical writing. The main qualities needed: Have to work in a team Good communication skills Detail ordinated Writing skills Technical skills

How much do you earn? The median annual wage for technical writers was $65,500, the lowest 10% is $38,700 and the highest 10% earned about more than $101,660.

The job outlook It has grown to 15% this upcoming year, and have been needed a lot more because of growth of technology.

My thoughts to it I think it would actually be good investment to be part of this industry, still I would still look at other employment because of the money paid wise and having to actually seem to be keep on going to other companies might become a drag, if I would have to do that. Otherwise it’s something I would keep in mind with to actually be part of like a plan B.
