Soaring in the Solar System Peggy Elder 2 nd Grade Science—Earth/Space

The solar system contains: – The sun – 9 Planets, which revolve around the sun “My Very Eager Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas” Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto

“The Solar System song” (tune: “Wheels on the Bus”) The planets go around the sun, Around the sun, Around the sun. We have 9 planets around the sun That we know!

First comes Mercury, Mercury, Mercury, Mercury. It is the closest to the sun so It’s very hard to see!

Then we get to Venus, Venus, Venus. It is a lot like the Earth In size and weight.

Now we are at Earth, Earth, Earth. We love Earth because it’s our home every day!

Fourth is Mars, Mars, Mars, Mars. Some say aliens live on Mars. I don’t know!

Fifth is Jupiter, Jupiter, Jupiter, Jupiter. It is the LARGEST And moves very fast, Oo-oo-oo!

Sixth is Saturn, Saturn, Saturn, Saturn. It has 3 rings That we can see!

Seventh is Uranus, Uranus, Uranus, Uranus. This one looks very blue Because Of water vapor.

Eighth is Neptune, Neptune, Neptune, Neptune. It is blue and has lots of storms, But that’s okay!

Ninth is Pluto, Pluto, Pluto, Pluto. It is very small And that ends our song!
