THE POSTURE PEDOMETER CUMMERBUND February 2012 Program Review Team Members: Kelly Han Kyle Mauer Kevin Vo Advisors: Dr. Aziz Inan (Faculty) Srija Pidaparthy (Industry) Dr. Deborah Munro (Client) Dr. Andrew Nuxoll (Instructor)

Posture Pedometer Cummerbund  A wearable electronic device that indicates if you have poor posture and also keeps your step count!

How?  The design utilizes two inputs, two outputs, and a “brain”. Flex Sensor Pedometer Switch Arduino Uno Vibration Motors Arduino LCD

Scorecard MilestoneDeadline DateFinished? Interface both pedometer and flex sensor on breadboard. (Major) February 28Yes! Create second cummerbund prototype if needed. (Minor) February 4Not needed. Design/Finish LCD housing. (Minor)February 18Design change due to bulkiness. Finish LCD Arduino Code (Minor)February 25Yes! Additional Accomplishments: - Created pockets in the cummerbund for electronics. - Implemented Step Count Reset Button - Implemented Flex Sensor Delay - Tested flex sensor while cummerbund was worn.

Proof! Flex Sensor, Pedometer, LCD Screen and Battery Pack!

Cummerbund Cummerbund with Pockets! Check our website for more videos!

Future Milestones  (Major) Integrate all electronics into Cummerbund Deadline: March 22  (Minor) Integrate Arduino and battery pack into Cummerbund Deadline: March 4  (Minor) Integrate flex sensor and vibration motors into Cummerbund Deadline: March 11  (Minor) Integrate pedometer and LCD into Cummerbund Deadline: March 18  (Major) Finalize and Fine Tune Cummerbund Deadline: March 25

Team Concerns  Strength of Cummerbund  We want to make sure that the Cummerbund is comfortable, but that it also has enough support to hold the electronics in place.  Fine Tuning Inputs and Outputs  We need to test the input sensitivity of both the flex sensor and pedometer when components are in the Cummerbund versus the breadboard.

Race to the Finish  The Team will  Integrate the electronic components into the Cummerbund  Test and fine tune the Arduino Code  Write the Final Report  Prepare for Founder’s Day!
