In Alzenau (a city in Lower Franconia near Frankfurt) you can find Germany‘s first Solar Walk.
Along the path visitors can witness how solar energy is used in the various buildings along the way.
You can visit more than 20 photovoltaic stations in Alzenau. Photovoltaic means that sunlight is converted into electricity.
Mr Handlbichler from the Environmental Agency in Alzenau demonstrated some buildings with solar collectors and a wood chip heating system.
Mr Handlbichler told us that the solar collectors you can find along the Solar Walk in Alzenau can produce electricity for around 30 households. Solar energy contributes to reduce CO 2 -emissions.
