Tablet PC What is it? A tablet PC is a wireless, mobile computer equipped with a touch screen or graphics tablet/screen hybrid to operate the computer with a stylus or digital pen, finger tip or keyboard.

Used for:  Intended function as a mobile way to interact with a computer.  Often used where normal notebooks are impractical.

Formats Convertible Model- integrated keyboard and display that rotates 180 degrees and can be folded down over keyboard

Slate Model-  resemble writing slates, are tablet PC without dedicated keyboard.

Hybrid Model  Share features of the slate model and convertible model by using detachable keyboard

Advantages:  Ability to use in environment where keyboard or mouse not conducive to conditions  Recording non-character based info, such as diagrams or mathematical notation and symbols  Light weight  Portable  No need for pens, paper or other writing tools

Disadvantages  High cost  Input speed  Text-conversion  Screen damage risk  Viewing area small  Small keyboard
