LCVYS, LYA and Discover Volunteering Youth Work and Volunteering for ‘Young Lincolnshire’

Transforming Local Infrastructure Our journey! Starting: Start the process of bringing together the specialist youth work infrastructure and volunteering groups Scoping: Scope with the groups brought together the commitment, opportunity and viability of a common joint approach to Voluntary Youth Sector support and delivery through the Localism agenda Working: Working with other IL Members develop a communication vehicle between business and youth groups Coming Together: Bring together Youth Sector Infrastructure & Youth Volunteering Groups to shape the outcomes of work above and identify work required to further build a common support platform. Further action: Further assess duplication and areas of synergy and relate to development and outcomes in other TLI groups Outcome: Create ‘Young Lincolnshire’

‘Young Lincolnshire’ ‘Young Lincolnshire’ is the consortium set up to bring together and strengthen the third sector organisations and infrastructure providers that support young people and youth provision across Lincolnshire LYA: LYA (YDA affiliate) and UK Youth County Association work to enable young people to participate, develop and achieve, by providing a range of practical support to engage and empower young people and capacity build the organisations that work with them LCVYS: Is a Charity that provides support to community and voluntary youth services in Lincolnshire. We are a membership infrastructure organisation that provides support, guidance, training and useful information to groups Discover Volunteering: Runs a bespoke volunteering brokerage service, supports young people and charities across the county and delivers ASDAN’s nationally accredited Community Volunteering Qualifications

‘Young Lincolnshire’ – our aims  To make young peoples lives better by being able to access more chances in life.  To strengthen the voice of young people through networking, training, additional qualifications, volunteer opportunities, achievements and celebration events.  To work closely with communities and partner organisations to reduce duplication and maximise support and resources.  To improve delivery/ access of available support/ provision countywide to increase youth participation.  To use the strengths of LCVYS, LYA and DV to create stronger networks across the county. Thus to benefit ‘Young Lincolnshire’ by strengthening the Community and Voluntary organisations directly delivering youth services.

The future for ‘Young Lincolnshire’ Next Steps: The consortium for Young Lincolnshire are currently biding for funding to host a countywide conference for the benefit of youth organisations and young people, with young people at the heart of the conference Task: In groups please discuss:  'What would you like out of a conference for youth services and young people in Lincolnshire' Your feedback will be used to support our funding applications
