Classroom Structure: Large Group and Small Groups The curriculum “Living Inside Out” works with our current homeroom and classroom structure. The Large Group is done during homeroom in the Coliseum with all the children. Small Group is classroom time when the children are divided by age. The Large Group activities cover the theme for the day’s lesson, and will include an object lesson, a skit or DVD clip, and a game. The benefit of having a Large Group activity is so that younger children can observe the older children, who inadvertently act as mentors. The Large Group activity also offers continuity and cohesiveness.

Large Group Activities… who’s in charge? Large Group Activities will be divided so that each teacher will have a part to facilitate. Temple Teacher (prek-K) Object Lesson Scribes & Scrolls (1 st -3 rd ) Game Marketplace (4 th -5 th )Skit or DVD The Large Group Activities will be included in your lesson packet.

Materials  Materials are in the cabinets and drawers of your classroom. Everything is labeled.  Please put everything back according to the labels, so that the next teacher can easily find them.  Common materials are in all classrooms. Uncommon materials can be found in the Marketplace classroom.  On the rare occurrence that we do not have the materials you need, you may contact the office to purchase them, or purchase them yourself and get a reimbursement.

Classroom Tools There are a couple of things provided to make teaching and leading your class easier.

Behavior Traffic Light  Each student is given a laminated car with their name on it (extras are in the drawer for guests and new members)  At the beginning of class, everyone is clipped onto the GREEN light, meaning their behavior is good.  If they are being disruptive, you may clip their car onto the YELLOW light. If they improve their behavior, they can be moved to the GREEN light again.  If they continue to be disruptive, you may clip their car onto the RED light.  **Students who are in the GREEN at the end of class get rewarded with $1 in Bible Bucks for good behavior Temple Class Behavior Traffic Light

Bible Buck Chart  Each classroom has a blue fabric chart which holds classmates’ Bible Buck envelopes.  That chart will either be in the Coliseum or your classroom. Take that chart with your class if you move rooms.  Children must return their envelopes to the chart at the end of the day.
