Kendo Meaning: “The Way of the Sword” Modern Japanese martial art Similar to fencing Competition for men, women, boys, and girls

Kyudo Meaning: “The Way of the Bow” Based on Kyujutsu (art of archery) Used bows in wars, now in competition Can be men and women

Kyudo equipment Bow is called The Yumi (over 2 meters long) Made of bamboo, wood and leather Arrow called Ya. Made w/ bamboo Fletchings of Ya made of hawk or eagle feathers Glove for arrow holding hand called Yugake (made of deerskin)
