2 The religions of Japan There are 5 types of religion in Ancient Japan.
Shinto, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism and Taoism . Shinto is the oldest religion in Japan. Buddhism was introduced in the 6th century, it started to affect Shinto(and vise versa). For more than 1000 years these religions have had an impact on Japan’s society.

3 The warrior of Japan In ancient Japan there was a strong warrior named Jimmu Tenno. He became the leader of warlike clans. Tenno led his people from the land of Kyushu to the land of Kinki. Then he conquered the people there. Then they settled in Yamato. They became the Yamato dynasty. There the leaders believed to be the divine origin( godlike). The war campaigns with China and Korea gave importance of their culture, and Martial arts.

4 The Japanese writing The writing used in Japan came from China in the 5th century. The writing used is called Kanji The Japanese writing system is called kana. The two types of kana are called hiragana and katakana.

5 Samurai, Shogun weapons and protection
War was important to Japan because many people fought for land. Only 20% was farming. Ancient Yayoi developed many weapons, armor and a code called Kyuba no michi. (The way of the horse and bow.) The weapons they used were bows,arrows and swords.

6 They used armor such as:
a helmet that protected the head and neck, a breastplate that protected the chest. Arm and shoulder protectors and a belly wrap. Later on the invented leg and thigh protectors. As armor changed battle change. During the 5th century Japan was introduced to horses and the 15th century guns were brought to battle.
