Why Rotary ? The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as the basis of worthy enterprise and in particular, to encourage and foster:

about Rotary ? Service above SELF Rotary was not long to recognise that fellowship alone would not keep a group together — there needed to be a purpose. First project was public restrooms in downtown Chicago. Rotary became the world’s first “service club”. The world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois, USA, was formed on 23 February 1905 by Paul Harris. Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. More than 1.2 million Rotarians belong to over 32,500 Clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary Club membership represents a cross- section of the community’s business and professional men and women. The world’s Rotary Clubs meet weekly and are non- political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. The main objective of Rotary is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self

We implement the object of Rotary through the Four Avenues of Service Club Service Those things that a Rotarian does to help make successful the running of the local club. Vocational Service The promoting of the “ideal of service” throughout the business and professional world. Community Service Urges every Rotarian to participate in all activities which make the community a better place in which to live. International Service Encourage and foster the advancement of understanding and good will among people of the world. implement Rotary It’s all about doing

“World Peace through Understanding” The Rotary Foundation The world of Rotary The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth President, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 to more than US$106 million contributed in Its event-filled history is a story of Rotarians learning the value of service to humanity. The Foundation's Humanitarian Programs fund international Rotary Club and District projects to improve the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education, and other essential needs primarily in the developing world. One of the major Humanitarian Programs is PolioPlus, which seeks to eradicate the polio virus worldwide. Through its Educational programs, the Foundation provides funding for some 1,200 students to study abroad each year. Grants are also awarded to university teachers to teach in developing countries and for exchanges of business and professional people. Former participants in the Foundation's programs have the opportunity to continue their affiliation with Rotary as Foundation Alumni.

our Club Rotary club of castle hill inc meets every Wednesday for Dinner at the Springfield House. Arrive 6:30 pm for a 7:00 pm start and ends at 8:30 pm 245 New Line Rd Dural NSW 2158 Australia After an informal meeting called by the District Governor's Special representative, Stan Kelly, at "Durham Park", Castle Hill, in November 1964, it was decided to hold an inaugural meeting of the Provisional Rotary Club of Baulkham Hills on February 4th, members of the Provisional Club applied to RI for their charter, which was granted on 18th March, 1965." From Review of Activities since Formation by Charter President, Gerald Engel Originally the Rotary Club of Baulkham Hills, the Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Parramatta. In 1973 the Rotary Club of Baulkham Hills ceased officially to exist and the Rotary Club of Castle Hill took its place. This was, however, a change in name only. Nothing else had changed. The change foreshadowed the creation of a new club in the southern part of our area and later a new Rotary Club of Baulkham Hills was chartered by us. In 1975 we chartered a new Rotary Club of Baulkham Hills who then chartered the Rotary Club of Winston Hills in Also in that year we chartered the Rotary Club of Kellyville who then chartered Norwest Sunrise in saw the Rotary Club of Glenhaven chartered, again by Castle Hill. In 2002 we chartered another club as part of Rotary International's venture to bring in a model club and The Hills Rotary Club was formed.

Becoming a Friend of the Rotary Club of Castle Hill allows those who share our ideals and objectives to participate in our activities without the responsibility of full membership. As a matter of fact there are many people who would qualify for membership but simply do not have sufficient time to join a Rotary Club. Being a Friend of the Rotary Club of Castle Hill allows you to help in local fund raising and events. Some club events are not specifically for fund raising but for socialising – Rotarians call this fellowship, an opportunity to enjoy activities and each other’s company, catch up with old friends and make or develop new ones. As a Friend of the Rotary Club of Castle Hill you will be kept abreast of club events by our weekly bulletin and “calls for assistance” and will be invited to participate or contribute to Rotary activities which may simply be by giving some of your time. There is no minimum level of contribution. All help is always appreciated in helping us help the community. our Friends Friends are individuals that want to expand their charity to people in need locally or globally by partnering with the Rotary Club of Castle Hill. People that recognize the integrity and soundness of Rotary’s service commitment and effective delivery world-wide.
