Commotion (noun) Synonym: Tumult Antonym: Peace Definition: Noisy activity Sentence: The commotion in New York during New Year was incredible; I will have to get my ears checked.

Concoction (noun) Synonym: Mixture Antonym: Separation Definition: A mixture of ingredients; putting several things together. Sentence: After the cook mixed together all the recipes, it created a marvelous concoction.

Conspicuous (adjective) Synonym: Noticeable Antonym: Hidden Definition: Easily seen; something obvious; attract attention. Sentence: Night-time joggers should wear conspicuous clothing, so they are noticed by cars.

Contortion (noun) Synonym: Twist Antonym: Straight Definition: A sharp twist or bend in, or of, something or someone. Sentence: The man had a serious contortion on his leg, and he needed a wheelchair to get around.

Serenity (noun) Synonym: Calmness Antonym: Agitation Definition: The quality of being calm, peaceful or untroubled. Sentence: The serenity of the man after the storm made me feel better in the havoc created by the tsunami.

Sociable (adjective) Synonym: Talkative Antonym: Reclusive Definition: Enjoying the company of others. Sentence: The sociable group would cooperate with each other and talk a lot; they’re NOT reclusive!

Somber (adjective) Synonym: Depressing Antonym: Jolly Definition: Very serious or sad. Sentence: Everyone was somber after mourning about 9/11.
