Disaster Recovery

A Disaster Recovery Plan is a plan for business continuity in the event of a disaster that destroys part or all of a business's resources, including: IT equipment, Financial records, Data, Physical products and/or space of an organization.

An I.T. Disaster Recovery Plan is a structured approach for responding to unplanned incidents that threaten an IT infrastructure including: Hardware Software Networks Processes People

The parts of the plan are as follows:  Policy Statement (What is the goal of plan?)  Business Impact Analysis (How will shutdown impact the business?)  Preventive Steps (How can disaster be avoided by taking prudent steps?)  Recovery Strategies (What you will need to recover?)  Plan (What is the plan and how will it be implemented?)  Plan Buy-In and Testing (How will everyone know what to do?)  Maintenance (How will you keep changes up to date?)

It is the responsibility of I.T. to create the company Disaster Recovery Plan.
