90Space Missions Notes 11/6/ /6/2014 Starter Practice: Finish Solar System Comparative Matrix ( Fold and Glue here) Space Missions Notes Exit: What do you think the purpose was of past space missions? StatementTru e Fal se Correction There is no gravity in space. The distance from the sun affects how much solar radiation arrives on a planet. Mass and weight are the same in space. An “Earth-Like” environment is needed to live in space. Living in Space has no effect on the human body Rotation=Day, Revolution=year

November 6, 2014 AGENDA 1 Starter 2. Solar System Matrix 3. Space Mission Notes 4. Exit Objective 7.9A Analyze the characteristics of objects in our solar system that allow life to exist such as the proximity to the Sun, presence of water, and composition of the atmosphere by completing solar system research and matrix and 7.9 B Identify the accommodations, considering the characteristics of our solar system that enable manned space explorations by completing notes over space missions..

Rotation=Day, Revolution=year Jupiter 2 or 3 A Venus day is longer than a Venus year The amount time needed for a planet to go around a star

115 11/28/2011 Space Missions StatementTrueFalse Correction There is no gravity in space. The distance from the sun affects how much solar radiation arrives on a planet. Mass and weight are the same in space. An “Earth-Like” environment is needed to live in space. Living in Space has no effect on the human body X There is little gravity in space. It is called “zero gravity” and makes humans feel weightless. X The closer a planet is to the sun, the more solar radiation it will receive. Remember too much radiation can kill humans. Weight is the measure of the pull of gravity on mass and Mass is the amount of matter in an object. Without gravity, you have no weight. Water, clean air, temperature control, and a way to dispose of waste are all needed to live in space. Since there is little gravity in space, weight can be lost. Also muscles lose mass because they are not used and you must be restrained so you will not fly off in space. X X X
