JOINING OF CROATIA IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EUROPEAN NAUTICAL TOURISM

Croatian nautical counties Croatian nautical capacities marinas with berths 1 11,003 boats using berths throughout the year 91% at sea - 9% ashore

Yacht turism in 2001 Total of boats – boats/days: 4 45% Croatian flag 6 65% European Countries G Germans Italians Austrians 8 85% sailing boats 1 15% motor boats Adriatic nautical fleet has increased by more than 600 yachts in making 85% of all foreign navigation permits in the Adriatic Sea

Commercial yacht capacities Rather large areas without any ports for nautical tourism (e.g. Korčula-Dubrovnik 52 nm)

“Wild berth” disadvantages «Wild berth» where, due to badly organized basic offer (collection and removal of waste, control of sewage disposal – faecal discharge/water, bilge water, replaced lubricating oil…), the exceptional purity and quality of our sea is rather endangered.

Leading development project Program would act as a leading project of the development of Croatian coast and islands, which is acompanied by construction of modern highways (Zagreb-Split). These rely on existing European highways thus bringing European East closer to European West.

Planned development advantages G Good supervision of the well preserved nature, through high ecological demands, with standardization of capacities up to the international standards, R Realization of the untapped natural potential of islands and coast as well as of all regional and national economic resources along with slowing down the emigration from islands and accelerating employment, as well as the development of all activities complementary to nautical tourism.

Project strategy w will work out the development as spaciotemporal component s should contribute the development of entrepreneurial spirit in Croatia and it promotes the role of the state administration on the model of most developed countries of the democratic Europe. P Profession will define the most appropriate projects and construction technique of the ports of nautical tourism.

State reinforced development The development and construction of nautical capacities should be controlled by the State, particularly in its initial stage, as to: protect the environment, stabilize the behaviour of boaters, provide utmost safety to them, eliminate «wild berth» that not only causes damage to the state but also endangers lives and property, maintain high purity of our sea, etc.

European interest Demand in elite yacht tourism:
