This presentation will give you a brief overview over standards taught and how they are represented on the CRCT, followed by helpful tips to prepare your child for success.

Standards taught and their CRCT weight Algebra = 41%  Understand the connection between proportional relationships  Analyze and solve linear equations and system of equations  Define, evaluate, and compare functions  Use functions to model real life problems Geometry = 27%  Understanding congruence and similarity (reflections, translations, rotations, dilations, and angle relationships with parallel lines cut by a transversal)  Understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem  Solve real-real world problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres

Standards taught and their CRCT weight Numbers and Operations = 20%  Understanding the real number system and work with rational and irrational numbers.  Understanding and computing with square and cube roots.  Understanding and applying exponential laws.  Understanding and computing with scientific notations. Data Analysis and Probability = 12%  Investigating patterns in bivariate data.  Construct and interpret scatter plots.  Finding the line of best fit.  Understanding two-way tables and frequencies.

What does it take to meet or exceed on the CRCT…. The Math CRCT in 8 th grade consists of 60 questions. Here is the break down for meet and exceed: ExceedMeet Score 850 or aboveScore At least 49 questions correctAt least 31 questions correct 81.6% or higher51.7%

What do we do to support your child’s journey to success? School initiatives:  Please monitor the school’s website for helpful CRCT links.  East Coweta Middle School will again be hosting the very popular two week long CRCT Blitz covering all domains. This will take place after school from 4 to 5 pm. We will announce dates shortly.

What do we do to support your child’s journey to success? Teacher initiatives:  We offer weekly tutoring sessions to help prepare your student for the CRCT.  We incorporate daily CRCT practice problems and helpful test taking skills into our lessons. (Ask you child what they have learned today! )

What can I do to support my child’s journey to success?  Have a daily conversation with your student about what they have learned in class.  Ensure that your child studies daily and completes his or her homework assignments.  Check teacher’s websites or Edmodo for updates and helpful tips.

What can I do to support my child’s journey to success? Here are some helpful websites: – textbook website – instructional videos and practice aligned to the Georgia Common Core Standards. – Lessons and practice with feed back aligned with the Georgia Common Core Standards.

What can I do to support my child’s journey to success? – lessons and practice presented by standard. - generates practice worksheets with answers for many topics Any necessary log on information can be obtained from your student’s teacher.
