SAT Algebra strategies By The Seamen

2X+5=15 or 5X-54=130 How would you solve the following two equations? What would be the recommended strategy to find out the answer?

The answer is simple….REMEMBER BALANCE AND DO THE EQUATION BACKWARDS!

For example, since 2X + 5= 15, to find 2X, you should first subtract 5 IN BOTH SIDES of the equation, in order to keep the balance going. This will leave you with 2X=10.

Now with 2x=10, continue with the reverse operation and divide 2 to both sides, and thus, the answer is X=5! See how easy algebra can be with that strategy?
