National Fire Service Incident Management System Consortium Michael A. Wieder Assistant Director, IFSTA/FPP Secretary, NFSIMSC

The Incident Management System (IMS) reflects the merger of two widely used systems: Incident Command System & Fire Ground Command System

The Formation of the NFSIMSC The idea to merge the systems came out of a panel discussion at the 1989 IAFC Conference in Indianapolis. Several meetings between FIRESCOPE and FGC folks were held in 1990 and 1991.

The Formation of the NFSIMSC The NFSIMSC was officially formed at a meeting in Chesterfield, Virginia in 1991. The NFSIMSC adopted a Constitution and By-Laws in 1993. The NFSIMSC is legally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation in the State of Texas.
