Presentation transcript:

In the 1950s Trinidad and Tobago was best known for calypso music and steelpan through artists like Lord Kitchener and the Mighty Sparrow; the art form was most popularized at that time ny Harry Belafonte. Along with folk songs and African and Indian-based classical forms, cross-cultural interactions have produced other indigenous forms of music including soca, chutney, and other derivative and fusion styles. There are also local communities which practise and experiment with international classical and pop music, often fusing them with local steelpan instruments.socasteelpan

because of immigration, greater diversity in the live music available within a country Because of outward tourism the local audience an expence of musical diversity in other countries Caribbean gain recognition when our music is promoted world wide Increase revenue Saves us money because festivals within the country meaning that we could have our local artistes instead of bringing foreign ones Americans can learn Caribbean culture

It may have both a positive and negative effect. For instance it showcases the cultural identity of the Caribbean by promoting Caribbean music and culture for the first time which is now showcased on the world stage thus strengthening the identity of Caribbean people. But at the same time yes Western culture may be a threat as Western Music and so on invades the Caribbean through the mass media and this is sometimes seen as the "better" culture to follow and many Caribbean adopt this and as such they neglect their own culture thus destroying the true identity of culture. Thus globalization has both a positive and negative effect on culture through the spread of culture by mass media

Educated people : persons that is knowledge about the music can pass it out to others culture is passes on from generation to generation therefore one would forget our culture and adopt new ones, we will be forgetting and giving up our culture that comes from our ancestors that worked hard for our survival of our culture. However we can implement activities within the communities and show people and explain to them how we access out culture in music and they will come to appreciating it
