WHY DO WE NEED MORE BLACK DOCTORS?

 In 2014, about 50,000 people applied for medical school with only 3,990 of them as African Americans.  Out of 20,343 new entrants into medical school in 2014, only 1,412 were African American

 Less than 4% of the total population of 897,420 doctors in the US are African Americans.  The African American community is highly under represented with only ¼ of its entire population as physicians.
